Yesterday, February 24, 2021. The Mobile World Congress conference has kicked off in Barcelona. The event will conclude on Friday, February 27, and is sure to feature many global and long-awaited launches, which we will keep you updated on.
Samsung Galaxy S5
The conference began with one of the most anticipated launches – on the first day the world saw Samsung Galaxy S5. How many rumors were reflected in reality? In terms of design, Samsung did not resort to a metal casing at all, leaving the appearance of the phone basically unchanged from its predecessor with the number 4. All plastic, with rounded edges, sharp sides with a silver finish and a slightly more rounded home button.
The phone’s back flap features small gouges, and the phone itself will come in four color variants – in addition to the classics of black and white, Samsung is also releasing the phone in blue and copper tones (which may become a signature color for the Galaxy S5, due to its uniqueness). The phone has also gained a cap for the bottom micro-USB port.
In terms of the phone’s technical specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S5 features a screen of 5.A 1-inch HD AMOLED display with 1080p resolution. The manufacturer has made an effort to provide the best possible hardware – a quad-core processor2.5GHz, 16 Mpx rear camera and 2 Mpx front camera. The battery has a capacity of 2,800 mAh and is slightly larger than the one found in the Samsung Galaxy S4. It is supposed to guarantee 21 hours of talk time and more than 16 days on standby.
The phone’s storage capacity is 16GB or 32GB, plus a memory card up to 128GB. RAM is 2GB. Samsung has remained faithful to Android and the latest model runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. A novelty is water resistance – with the Galaxy S5 we can bathe for up to 30 minutes, to a depth of approx. 1 meter, as well as a fingerprint scanner to keep our data more secure.
Also a variety is a heart rate monitor, which may appeal to those who are physically active. Sales of the phone will start on April 11 in more than 150 countries.
New wearables from Samsung
In addition to the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5, the company also unveiled two new models of its smartwatches – Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. The biggest surprise in this regard is the abandonment of Android in favor of Tizen. Both watches feature an upgraded design, longer battery life and better integration with other devices. Also new is the Gear Fit, That is, a wristband that monitors our activity during the day.
It includes a heart rate monitor, and has the ability to track our phone if we misplace it somewhere.
Nokia with Android
Nokia has officially announced that it is moving to the “android side of power”. This does not mean abandoning Windows Phone, but expanding its offerings to include Android devices. Phones Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL have just the latter operating system.
However, these are not exactly strictly Android phones – Android-dedicated apps will work on these devices, but Google Play will not be the main store for these phones.
GeeksPhone Blackphone
Swiss manufacturer GeeksPhone has unveiled a smartwatch called the Blackphone. This is a phone that guarantees extraordinary security for our data, which will be protected from any leaks, hackers and other dangers that lurk in our privacy. Switzerland, after all, is famous for its extraordinary attention to safety in every area. Blackphone has a display of 4.7 inches, quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
