I used to be a Democrat and a proud one at that. Nevermind the fact that I was often wrong on my views, I was still proud. Naturally, as a Democrat, I was a huge supporter of President Clinton. Heck, I even voted for him TWICE. Yeah, I know. But if it helps, I feel really bad about it now. Well, supporter may be a little strong . I never gave any money to Democrats or worked in any Dem campaigns but I did drive 2 hours to see Clinton speak in Phoenix once. So, I guess that made me more of a fan than a supporter.
But, when the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, I started to reevaluate my belief system. What I focused on was that the President of the United States lied. I mean, out and out lied. To his family, to the Congress, and the American people…right to our faces! I started thinking, “If he’ll openly lie about something this careless, stupid and self-destructive, what else has he lied about?”
That’s when I realized ALL the Democrats who were still supporting Clinton were lying, too. Though they knew what he did, they went out and happily lied for him some more. At that point I realized I couldn’t be a part of this group anymore. I did some research on the Republican party and realized it was where I should’ve been all along. I became an early supporter of Gov. George W. Bush for President in 1999 and never looked back.
Today, I’m a systems analyst for the US Treasury Department. I’m also the proud father of four beautiful children whom I share with my ex-wife. And I wrote my own blog, Falcon’s Crest, before being invited to HRP.
I continue to be a proud Republican. Eventhough I’ve been asked by some liberal friends, I WILL NOT return to the Democrat Party. Since leaving, I’ve worked on several local, state, and national political campaigns…all for Republicans. My mission is to atone for my previous political life by electing as many Republicans to public office as possible. I’ve already seen the damage Democrats can do when they’re in charge.
