“I’ve been through this for 19 months…”

Obama’s own words. He finished the statement with: “She has been through it — what — four days so far?”

He’s right he has. He was elected in 2006 as a junior Senator from Illinois. He’s been a Senator for 22 months and 19 of those months he’s been campaigning for what he hopes to be his next job.

He touts his days as a community organizer and people are asking what does a community organizer do? Well, here’s a hint:

What do community organizers actually do? How do they do it? And how has Obama’s experience as a community organizer shaped his run for the presidency?

Since 2002, I have worked with several Chicago-based community organizers and even done some organizing myself. My experience has taught me to view Barack Obama, Chicago’s most famous community organizer, in a different light than you will likely encounter from most political commentators.

Community organizing is old-fashioned, bare-knuckle politics for the little guy.

No, that’s not Obama describing what a community organizer does. It is another Chicagoan sometimes community organizer.  The fellow expands a bit more on community organizing and explores the roots, although we already understand that the roots come from Saul Alinsky. For Obama’s own description of the process try After Alinsky: Community Organizing in Illinois. And here also: Obama’s Community Roots .

So, Obama was a politician before he was a Politician.

He’s wrong that she’s been through it four days. She’s been through it for a whole lot longer typically against people like him. The problem is, Obama’s never had to face criticism like he is facing now because before, he was part of the Chicago political machine which suited him perfectly. On the other hand, Palin has been a real maverick, taking on corruption even within her own party.

Some have started using the abbreviation PDS to describe what’s going on. Before it was BDS. We may as well call it what it really is: Conservative Derangement Syndrome, CDS.

Let the media talk about such superficials as her hair, or her sister’s divorce from a Trooper who tazered his own son, and spurious claims as to who are the parents of baby Trig, the sexist comments, or the insanity charge (the newest criticism followed up with “a librarian stripper”) coming from liberal media, including other women, who want it all themselves as long as it’s another liberal. Palin will still do what all those women have failed to do for decades and show the world the hypocrits and elistists with which the left is filled.

I could go on and on but I believe the MSM is more than capable of defeating themselves and their candidate.

Update: Just a couple more things… for now. Heart condemned the use of their song “Barracuda” in honor of Sarah Palin who earned the nickname during high school. Not that they have much of a career left these days, this isn’t the right way to keep what they do have. Nor has Us Magazine endeared itself to its subscribers while Sarah Palin is still: Sarah Palin.

A week ago, most Americans had never heard of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Now, following a Vice Presidential acceptance speech viewed live by more than 40 million people, Palin is viewed favorably by 58% of American voters. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 37% hold an unfavorable view of the self-described hockey mom.

The figures include 40% with a Very Favorable opinion of Palin and 18% with a Very Unfavorable view (full demographic crosstabs are available for Premium Members). Before her acceptance speech, Palin was viewed favorably by 52%. A week ago, 67% had never heard of her.

The new data also shows significant increases in the number who say McCain made the right choice and the number who say Palin is ready to be President. Generally, John McCain’s choice of Palin earns slightly better reviews than Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden.

Perhaps most stunning is the fact that Palin’s favorable ratings are now a point higher than either man at the top of the Presidential tickets this year. As of Friday morning, Obama and McCain are each viewed favorably by 57% of voters. Biden is viewed favorably by 48%.

Beautiful. CDS - yup that’s it.

    Great post, Steph.

  2. Midwest Kay Says:

Re US Magazine, I have read somewhere that supposedly they’re losing subscriptions over their hit piece….anyone else read that?

  3. Stephanie Says:

The next to the last link in the updated part is to an article about just that. Some put it at 10,000 subscribers but the numbers are fluid right now, I believe.

  4. Big Mo Says:

The libs were gleefully hoping that Hurricane Gustav would wreck the GOP convention. Instead, the libs got Hurricane Sarah.

  5. Kathy Says:

Well Mo, some people prayed for rain. (Denver is a desert with <50″ rainfall/yr) and we got a Storm!

There’s also a link in the piece I wrote a couple of days ago on US - that has the comment section to the online version of the article. 10 to 1 they are crucifying US magazine and it’s prObama promotions.

It’s going to get better - America’s affection for Gov. Palin is going to grow. You don’t spend two years in ofc and walk away with 80% approval if you don’t know the people. This is one public servant that knows the people. Her constituents have been saying ‘this is our Sarah, Finally the rest of America gets to see what we in Alaska have known all along. She is the real thing.”

    Authenticity.
