Don’t Mess With Texas
Or, Your Feel Good Story For the Weekend
Got any relatives or friends that like to feel morally superior about gun control? Send them this:
Investigators say they were definitely going to rob him - possibly even kill him.
But an 80-year-old North Texan wasn’t about to let that happen, so he took action.
One of the suspects is in the hospital and both are facing charges.
Two men obviously thought James Pickett, 80, was an easy target when they showed up at his home on Saturday with a knife.
Read the rest of the story.
Best quote of the week:
“The only problem was I run out of bullets,” Picket said.

Two women were playing golf. One teed off and watched in horror as her
ball headed directly toward a foursome of men playing the next hole. The
ball hit one of the men. He immediately
clasped his hands together at his groin, fell to the ground and
proceeded to roll around in agony.
The woman rushed down to the man, and immediately began to apologize.
‘Please allow me to help. I’m a Physical
Therapist and I know I could relieve your pain if you’d allow me, she told
him.
‘Oh, no, I’ll be all right. I’ll be fine in a few minutes,’ the man
replied. He was in obvious agony, lying in the fetal position, still
clasping his hands together at his groin. At her persistence, however,
he finally allowed her to help.
She gently took his hands away and laid them to the side, loosened his
pants and put her hands inside. She administered tender and artful
massage
for several long moments and asked,’How does that feel’?
He replied: ‘It feels great, but I still think my thumb’s broken.

xsd4tex,
Here’s what someone said to me about McCain:
I would donate to McCain’s campaign but I’m afraid all I can give is a peso because some illegal immigrant took my job, stole my identity, and racked up a number of bills with it. After all the legal fees from cleaning up that mess, I’m flat broke and they can’t even catch the SOB.
On top of that, my political free speech has been abridged through McCain-Feingold and that hate-crimes bill they so nation-lovingly passed I can’t even complain about it without fear of being thrown in jail for hate speech… which might not be a bad thing because then I would have free housing, free food, and free health care just like the illegals.

Well, the subject had to do with a “feel good story for the weekend.” Jim Shea’s is mine. Occasionally that happens.
Believe me, I’ve seen and heard enough attacks against John McCain but now that he is the Republican nominee there is a certain sense of comeuppance towards McCain’s critics like Limbaugh who simply cannot believe that Republicans will come together and elect McCain this November whether he likes it or not. Gosh, it sure breaks me up to hear his whining!

Kathy - Texas is a GREAT place to live.

Steve, Texas was very good to me!!!!!
But the whole time I missed the mountains of Tennessee.
I miss the sunset, since I live on a steep hill here. In the winter time it like living in Alaska. The Sun skirts the bluff from the southeast. My house is it twilight. But I love it. You will never hear me anything bad about Texas.

xsd4tex,
You, McCain, and his cohorts underestimate not only the apathy of the Republican party but also the amount of ire directed toward the “apparent nominee.” When he loses, perhaps you’ll realize then. If you haven’t figured out by now that the whole thing was orchestrated by the Democrats and their liberal puppet masters, you never will. They wanted McCain because they wanted a Republican loser.
There’s a whole new post by Steve talking about the fact that independents and Democrats can cross over and vote Republican in the Texas primaries. If you had a brain, you’d be thinking about the states where McCain has made the biggest wins… heck he didn’t even capture more than 50% in his home state. That ought to tell you and him something. Much of the time he barely wins the primaries and the only thing that’s helped him there are the winner take all states. No matter how the media and the Republican party try to spin the numbers, the Republican nominee sucks… totally.
While, yes, he is the apparent nominee thanks to the Democratic Party, that doesn’t mean he’s going to win in November with those numbers. A lot of those people voting for him now in the primaries won’t be in those lines to vote for him in November and given the apathy or anger of a good chunk of the people the Republican Party is supposed to represent, things are not looking too good for your candidate.
The only reason I’ll be voting for him is because there’s a possibility that he’ll do the things he’s promised with judges and the military. Scant choice but at least with him, at least there’s a possibility. With Obama or Clinton there is certainty that they will do the opposite. Regardless of what I do, there are a great number out there who refuse to vote for him and I won’t blame them one bit for sitting it out because I’m so very tempted to do the same. I’ve got 8 months and it’s a woman’s perogative to change her mind. So the likelihood of him becoming president is pretty small and becomes smaller every time his supporters don’t back off and stop telling us we have no choice.
Sorry to have hijacked the thread yall. Back to our regularly scheduled progam now. I’m done ranting.

Stephanie - love the rant. Don’t ever change.
Hey, Kathy, looks like Steph’s giving you some competition for my affections.
