McCain Has Learned His Lesson On Immigration?

Uh huh…

Really?

Then why is Juan (Open Borders) Hernandez on his staff for Hispanic outreach? McCain’s answer “Because he agrees with me.” Yup.

When anyone says McCain will secure the borders first they stop there because they know that the second step is to grant amnesty to those who are here and they know that 80 percent of us oppose it.

The only lesson McCain has learned on immigration is how easily he can make some people forget that he spat on them and called them bigots.

As I have said before…why not make Mexico a state then the following would happen:
    1. All if the illeagals would instantly become citizens
    2. We could make English the mandatory language for them all
    3. It would open up a lot of land for investment purposes.(developers would love it)
    4. We wouldn’t have to build a wall.
    5. And you all could get over your fears that the 12 million people that are here are going to suck the economy dry………….

Immigration is an issue that needs to be dealt with but let’s not forget the United states has been dealing with it for a long time for example:

    1. The Chinese Exclusion Act (aimed at the Chinese)
    2. The British Passenger Act (aimed at the Irish)
    3. The Gentleman’s Agreement of 1907 (aimed at the Japanese)
    4. The Immigration Act of 1917 ( Was proposed by the Immigration Restriction League whom Henry Cabot Lodge (republican) was a charter member and aimed at limiting Asians, Italians, Russians, Poles, Hungarians and Greeks…..are any of you descended from one of these races) By the way Mexicans were excluded from this act because we needed the workforce……..

You know I agree with McCain on this one and if I had to vote republican I would consider voting for McCain…..

Because all that is happening now is a bunch of complaining…….

    Bruce,
You miss the point of the post. Because McCain knows his stance isn’t supported by the vast majority of his base, he’s being deceitful. Nothing new for him.

The difference between lying in the republican party and lying in the democrat party is that in the former it loses points instead of gaining them.

McCain stinks on immigration, plans to grant amnesty, but won’t say so now lest it torpedo his chance to thump conservatives one more time.

The topic of immigration itself cannot be solved with amnesty - that is the beginning of the worst voter backlash in the history of backlashes. You are simply wrong on that Bruce, but as you are hoping for McCain because he is imminently beatable, I don’t hold it against you.

I’ll let you pick my party’s candidate when you let me pick yours. And it won’t be Obama.

  3. Bruce Says:

    Kathy,

Fred was openly the No Amnesty candidate with a plan…..and he is no longer in the running……..You say that 80% of “YOU” are opposed to Amnesty……If that was really the case and Illegal immigration was really in the top two or three items on “your” list then Fred would probably still be around…Or am I confused on this too……You know I really don’t think I missed the point at all……The results of this race speaks for itself………by the way how was that salad…that piece of fruit…that glass of wine that you enjoyed last night……”you” (the 80%) like having them around….or at least you are benefiting from them being around……

And no I would never try to pick you candidate…just try to influence you to make the right choice….

Obama in ‘08……..55% of the vote in SC

  4. Kathy Says:

    Bruce,
If you check out the poll below - you’ll see that immigration is not the top of the concerns of the voters. FDT’s campaign folded because of a segment of religious voters who bought Huckabee’s snake oil in SC. It wasn’t hinging on immigration or other issues, rather on character issues. Erroneously decided if you ask me.

As for the 80% - that’s the total population, not republicans. A vast number of your party don’t like amnesty either.

BTW - Romney is rated very high by NumbersUSA - the anti immigration organization responsible for mobilizing the opposition to McCain-Kennedy last year rates Romney very highly on this issue.

    I had pizza last night.

  5. Bruce Says:

    Kathy,

So help me out here….I’m a little confused…me being the simple man that I am…… you stated “they know that 80 percent of us oppose it.”……it being “Shamnesty” as you have so dubbed it…….But yet and still your poll below say that it is not that important to “you” (the collective)………But yet in a poll that you said I should look at only 8% of the people think that this is an important issue as you said…..”If you check out the poll below - you’ll see that immigration is not the top of the concerns of the voters.” So even if you are against it…but its not really important to you….then why wouldn’t you back McCain…..because everyday you guys bash him on immigration an issue that is really not important to 92% of the people…well at least according to your poll…………..

By the way did you check the kitchen to see who made that pizza…….I bet he wasn’t italian and if he was its a good thing that the The Immigration Act of 1917 isn’t the law……

    Bruce,
When you ask questions that conflate two different subjects with two different polls I begin to see what you mean about needing an explanation. If you are losing the argument you convolute - I see that. But this is a simple issue.

The ONLY reason for a republican to support McCain are his so-called national security bona fides, but unfortunately for him, I consult in counterterrorism so I have connected the dots between our national security and sovereignity. While a country that fails to protect its borders is on shaky ground economically, strategically it invites disaster as well. In one fell swoop, immigration undermines McCain’s only attractive attribute.

And the pizza came from a family run restaurant, do you want their pedigrees, I suspect it goes back about two hundred years or so in my neck of the woods. Either way it’s as relevant as the length of my big dog’s tail to this discussion.

  7. Kathy Says:

    Bruce,
And Fred surrendered before his time, probably before he got started - but his stance on immigration was not the reason he didn’t do well. Issues were never the problem, style was. And that more than anything else is a disgrace to republicans.

This bruce obviously isn’t the former dukeblondie.

  9. Bruce Says:

    Kathy,

You know this is why I am here…everyday I learn something new “conflate”………… ” to combine (as two readings of a text) into a composite whole” …..(I had to look that up)…. As far as me “conflating” (is that the correct usage?) two different subjects with two questions I would say they are very related in fact it was you that brought up the second poll when you said “If you check out the poll below - you’ll see that immigration is not the top of the concerns of the voters.”………but that is just my opinion…..Fred is out because he got in too late (which wasn’t all bad)…but then he didn’t run an aggressive campaign…….Yes I must admit he laid out a very comprehensive plan but he wasn’t able to get the ear of the republican party…..One thing you could say about Ronald Reagan even if you didn’t agree with his policies he had the ability to “make you believe his religion” if you understand what I am trying to say…..Fred did not have that talent….and as a leader if you don’t have some passion to get your followers to believe in you and your system or policies or it doesn’t work….ask any basketball or football coach……and who said I was loosing……..I was under the impression that I was winning the debate…….but then again that’s just me……

……tell me how many calories did that pizza have…….

    IP27,

Nope this isn’t “formally dukeblonde” this is the black man whom you accused of being a closet racist the other day don’t you remember…………

    Obama in ‘08……just because…..

  10. Stephanie Says:

Bruce the point of the article was the media’s manipulation of events in the world determines what people’s top priorities are. This article highlights that fact very well. Regardless of what the issue of the day is, the other issues will continue to rear their ugly heads until they are resolved.

  11. Kathy Says:

Glad you’ve discovered a new word, Bruce, LOL.

Who said you were losing the debate? The conflation of the issues in order to confuse it. I know that you agree with McCain on immigration - along with four or five others that haven’t considered the ramifications on our economy and our security. Thank God Americans four to one disagree with you and put a stop to it last year.

Immigration is but one issue McCain has crossed his conservative base, free speech is another, global warming legislation is another, free enterprise is another, taxes, judicial appointments, Guantanamo, habeas corpus for combatants, etc. Come to think of it - he even considered becoming a democrat a few years ago but Jeffords beat him to the punch.

McCain’s campaign is being puffed up by the establishment reps who want amnesty along with the liberal media for the same reason.

It’s a no sale around here.

If we have to have democrat policy in the WH destroy our economy, I’d rather he have a D behind his name. Then the next election cycle a conservative Republican can come in and clean up the mess. Carter gave us Reagan, but Ford gave us Carter.

Moderate Republicans have historically served only one term, Conservatives serve two.
