Australian Elections

The Australians are also in an election cycle and their PM John Howard is in quite a fight. He’s been a great friend to the US and his lefty media holds a grudge for that and for providing Australia with one of the world’s best economies. The media is doing everything they can to unseat him. Rudd’s win would put a lefty at the helm in Sydney; he is currrently leading in the media driven polls; but if it means in Oz what it means here, add fifteen points to Howard’s results.

MK has a great analysis on why he believes Howard will ultimately win.

Just as they stand beside us in Iraq and Afghanistan, we need to stand beside them now with our thoughts and prayers. God bless Australia, and God bless John Howard.

I assumed Aussie media was conservative, given that it is controlled by Rupert Murdock

..but then, old Rupe seems to have developed an affinity for Hillary: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/09/politics/main1600694.shtml ..hopefully, the folks
DownUnder are as perceptive as we at sorting through ALL the media and making their own judgements.

Thanks for the link Kathy, apparently there is a slight turn in the latest opinion poll, they say they are back in the hunt, but i say slight because who knows which way it’ll go next week.

With regards to the media, if you follow the news closely you’ll notice the easy ride the Press give to the lefty opposition, it’s very annoying sometimes. Only after repeated pressure and questioning from the conservative government candidates do the media get off their asses and ask some hard questions themselves. Once the hard questions are asked you start to see the lefties falling apart on detail, changing their policies and falling over themselves. The media, in my opinion are biased and it’s costing the country and the opposition, after all I’m not against them for the sake of opposing them, i’d much rather the opposition get their act together, that’ll get the other side to do even better, which in turn benefits us the public.

We must never forget that the Aussies are a thoroughly socialist creatures, whichever party is elected.

I have ben monitoring some of the main newspaper sites in OZ for a couple of years and the picture presented there is completely anti-Howard, anti-American, pro-Kyoto, eco-freaky and absolutely unlike going there and visiting.

Australia has been a great ally in the War on Terror. And they are still in Iraq and Afganistan. If they Elect Ruud and his bunch that will all end.

But then who will they sell all that coal and uranium to? Well, Kyoto or not China needs Australia’s raw materials, has bucks, and they will get whatever they want.
