Shhh! The Surge IS Working
There’s an old joke about a guy who lived near the railroad tracks. At 2a.m. every night a train roared past his little shack, shaking him from his bed. After twenty years of being thrown from bed every night without waking up, one night the train did not come. The man sat upright in bed and asked “What was that?”
That’s how I feel about news reports on Iraq. On July 20, The Trib did its most recent report on Iraq. Nothing is happening there? Maybe it’s the disinterest of the Trib. What about the Washington Post? The Post is discussing Exit Strategies…. sigh. The AP reports the total number of soldiers killed. No new approach there, just the steady defeatist drumbeat. It’s as if the media thinks our soldiers are standing on the streets of Baghdad with targets painted on their chests waiting to be shot. That’s because the media’s perception is that our soldiers, as Kerry stated, are dumb and stuck there. Why tell what they are actually doing? If there isn’t a body count, or an explosion to report, it will be silence or faux strategy discussions. They’ll quote a ‘top’ senator against the war as if only ‘bottom’ senators support it.
The media chooses to go the route of a John Kerry wannabe “Scott Thomas” the New Republic’s latest slander against the military.
The progress in Iraq has left the leftmedia scrambling for a story - Mary Mapes School of Journalism time… But the American Thinker has the story:
It’s now quite clear how the results of the surge will be dealt with by domestic opponents of the Iraq war.
They’re going to be ignored.
They’re being ignored now. Virtually no media source or Democratic politician (and not a few Republicans, led by Richard “I can always backtrack” Lugar) is willing to admit that the situation on the ground has changed dramatically over the past three months. Coalition efforts have undergone a remarkable reversal of fortune, a near-textbook example as to how an effective strategy can overcome what appear to be overwhelming drawbacks.
This article goes on to describe the other ’shoe’ that must drop for the left to re-invent Vietnam. It certainly does explain all the investigations….

Kathy, this is so infuriating and pathetic. Our troops are out there working their hearts out and putting themselves on the line and doing such a great job and the traitorous MSM can’t stand for the public to know one good thing about it. Thank God we still have the blogosphere.

Hi Aurora, good to see you! If the lefties win in 2008, say goodbye to many of the outlets that currently fact check the dems/press. They will institute the unFairness Doctrine to silence talk radio and will regulate all blogs with greater than five hundred hits per day.
I think with congress at 14% approval, they’ll have trouble holding onto the House, and Clinton will get the nomination but less than 45% of the popular vote. Depending on the electoral college, she will lose.
