The other day I wrote a post, Sweating It Out about a survey about the hottest cities in the country. John in CA made the following comment.

Talk about flawed methodologies! I’ve lived in Las Vegas, Dallas, and Waco. NOBODY walks around for an hour at the height of summer. You walk for at most half an hour, then an ambulance or hearse carries you the rest of the way

But our soldiers in Iraq have no choice to be out in the heat. It’s their job. And while we have the choice to be out in shorts, our soldiers are dressed in their full body armor. Courtesy of Michael Yon is this photos of a couple taking a break from the heat.

We can do something to help our troops. Caleb has sent me a link to this story from Blackfive, Operation AC Needs Your Help!. What is needed is money to get air conditioners to the troops.

On Friday, June 22nd we will begin taking sign-ups from S4s (unit supply personnel) and entire deployed units who are in need of the air conditioners. We already have many units on the ground asking, and our inbox is stuffed with several hundred emails. I asked the people who run this war to help me and they flat out told me, “NO!”(They’re very good at that.)

The question is will you help us do this again? We got those 9,400 air conditioners to our troops in the past by the Grace of God and supporters who believed in us. We know it will once again happen that way this time around.
