Indictment sought for William “Cold Cash” Jefferson
Had this guy been a Republican you know that Nancy Pelosi would on the news every day demanding a congressional investigation… Since he is a Democrat though Pelosi and the rest of the Dem leadership has been strangely silent..

(CBS)Â Sources tell CBS News that authorities are seeking an indictment against Congressman William Jefferson, D-La., on more than a dozen counts involving public corruption.
Jefferson has been the subject of a ongoing probe in which FBI agents allegedly found more than $90,000 in cash in his freezer in August 2005.

Breitbart is reporting that a Federal Grand Jury handed down a 16 Count Indictment.
Posted by DarrellRep. William Jefferson, D-La., was indicted Monday on federal charges of racketeering, soliciting bribes and money-laundering in a long- running bribery investigation into business deals he tried to broker in Africa.
The indictment handed up in federal court in Alexandria., Va., Monday is more than an inch thick and list 16 alleged violations of federal law that could keep Jefferson in prison for up to 200 years.

I’ll have to listen to the MSM news this evening (NOT!) to determine whether or not they cover the story. It should get more coverage than the Abramhoff story since Jefferson is an elected official. Want to bet on the outcome?

I have a question - just what in the world would an incumbent Democrat officeholder have to do in order to not be re-elected in a landslide?
This man made demands the rescue resources in New Orleans ferry him to his house where he removed something in a great big box. He’s found with 90,000 dollars (just think of the physical space that much cash would take - its 900 $100 bills) in his freezer.
And yet he just won re-election. Maybe we should start a rumor that he has been secretly negotiating with Republicans on the war funding bill - I’m sure that would be considered disgraceful and unelectable behavior even by New Orleans Democrats.
