Hey, don’t tease me about my BIG ears, okay?!
It seems the Democrats second coming of JFK has an Achilles heal. He doesn’t like being teased about his rather large ears.
From the Rush Limbaugh website:
Obama up in New Hampshire being treated like a god making a speech. Now, apparently before he made the speech, [New York Times columnist] Maureen Dowd had written something about his big ears. Obama, after the speech, made a beeline for Maureen Dowd who was in the audience to tell her that he didn’t appreciate her writing about his big ears. Now, there’s a lot of noise here and it’s very muddy. I’ll translate it for you, but here’s how it sounded.
OBAMA: Talk about my ears. So I just want to put you on notice, I’m very sensitive about — what I told them was I was teased relentlessly when I was a kid about my big ears.
DOWD: We’re just trying to toughen you up. (emphasis added)
Are you kidding me? This guy wants to be President of the United States but he can’t handle being teased about his ears? Oh man, Hillary’s attack squads are going to eat him alive if that’s the case. Side note: you have to go to Rush’s site to see the “picture” of Sen. Obama he has there.

Ladies and gentlemen, we live in dangerous times in a very dangerous world. We need someone in the presidency who won’t get his feelings hurt when his ears are picked on. Sen. Obama could be a serious contender for the Democrats. But not until he “toughens up.”

LBJ had big ears! Obama’s ears stick out due to his haircut and not the size of his ears. IMHO.

Personally, I agree with Jeanette. They’re not that bad. But apparently it’s something that has plagued him since childhood.

I’ve seen Obama 8–10 times in News clips…and I can say with all honesty…His ‘ears’ have never entered my mind…
But, like they say…’Fact is stranger than Fiction’…
I think he’s a fine looking young man…clean, healthy looking…
He’s too liberal for my VOTE…
But he could certainly be on a ‘Wheaties’ box with no trouble…

Again, I agree with you, SR. But, honestly, I have noticed his ears. They always seemed to make him look like a little kid whose hair was cut too short, to me.
Obama is a fantastic public speaker - WAAAY too liberal for my blood - but still a good speaker.
I personally think he’s jockeying for the vice presidential pick with whoever ultimately wins the Dem nomination.

I’m not sure he was serious despite other’s analysis. If he’s so sensitive about them, why has he joked about them himself? I’ve heard him joke about his ears on 5 tv interviews. I think there’s less to this story than appears.

Perhaps Obama can go on a “listening tour of America”, and put those big ears to good use.
He will not have any trouble keeping an ear to the ground.
At least, he is not referred to as “Her Thighness”.

In my dad’s family people have ears so large they don’t need a satellite dish. My grandma wouldn’t take them past the elephants at the zoo for fear of a dispute with a mother elephant over her children. Seriously, big, ears, in, my, family.
My uncle could cause a breeze when he wiggled his ears, which he could do right and left ears independently. I used to joke with him that he was lucky to have an extra pair of hands attached to his head.
So ear jokes - I’ve lived ‘em.
I’ve really never noticed Obama’s ears.
If he spent a week with my Dad’s family, he’d get over it.

Not sure if Obama was kidding around or not. But MoDo aaying that “we’re just trying to toughen you up” is quite telling. Of course we know where their sympathies lie.
But why would Obama need “toughening up”?
And by the way, aaron, this isn’t “the best” we can throw at Obama. That in itself is a stretch.
I don’t have so much of a problem with Obama himself, other than the fact that he’s 100% liberal and that he says that the same people who won’t vote for him because of his politics won’t vote for him because of his skin color. I DO, however, have a huge problem with the near messiah-like worship the media is pouring over him.
So, aaron, if Obama becomes the Dem candidate, I’ll talk about his ideas, his votes and his politics. I really don’t give a flip about his ears. But it seems like HE does.
