PRESENT IS PROLOGUE. RUSSIA HAVING MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH MUSLIMS.

An excellent article from the Toronto Star is a telling history of what is happening and will get worse all around the world, including right here in the good old USA. Russia is having a major problem with it’s large muslim population. Remember much of the “Stan” countries were part of the old Soviet Union and are citizens of Russia. They are straining the Russian Republic. If we are not careful, the same is going to happen here. An interesting read. I will excerpt:

Russia is in the midst of startling transformation. Islamic faith is thriving across the country. If current trends continue, experts say, more than half of Russia’s population will be Muslim by mid-century.

Few expect it will be an easy transition. Tensions are already high between the country’s ethnic Russian population and the diverse group of nationalities that make up the Muslim community. Inter-ethnic violence is on the rise and extreme nationalist groups are gaining influence.

Muslim leaders say the Russian media is fuelling antagonism. Many Russians associate Islam with religious extremists from Chechnya who have carried out dozens of bombings and other attacks against civilians. On Russian television, Muslims are most often portrayed as either criminals or religious radicals waging a holy war against Christians. One of Russia’s bestselling novels last year, The Mosque of Notre Dame de Paris, depicts a mid-21st century Europe where Islam is the state religion and Christians are forced to live in ghettos.

Gee, I wonder why that is. The Russian Media is the only ones who are willing to tell it like it is. Would that our Media would do the same.

Some here are newly arrived immigrants from the former Soviet states of Central Asia; others are from Muslim-majority regions that remained part of Russia after the Soviet collapse.

Russia’s Muslim communities boast far higher birth rates than those of the country’s Christian Orthodox, ethnic Slavs. Russia’s overall population is dropping at a rate of 700,000 people a year, largely due to the short life spans and low birth rates of ethnic Russians.

According to the CIA World Factbook estimate, Russia’s overall fertility rate is 1.28 children per woman, far below what is needed to maintain the country’s population of about 143 million.

Muslim Russians, meanwhile, are bucking the trend, with some communities averaging as many as 10 children per woman. The Central Asian states that traditionally send large numbers of immigrant workers to Russia also have much higher birth rates.

Since 1989, Russia’s Muslim population has increased by 40 per cent to about 25 million. By 2015, Muslims could make up a majority of Russia’s conscript army and they could account for one-fifth of the country’s population by 2020.

If trends continue for the next 30 years, people of Muslim descent will outnumber ethnic Russians, says Paul Goble, an expert on Islam in Russia and research associate at the University of Tartu in Estonia.

Our politicians have long told us that this could not happen here, but it already is. CAIR is already using our laws to force us to allow muslims to worship wherever they want and it is apparent that Muslims are not interested in respecting our way of life and our major religion, which is Christianity.

Hattip to reader Caleb.

I highly doubt that such transformation of religion will ever occur in America. There is so much diversity that its hard to imagine such a concept.

Wha is different here in America is that there is a strong check and balances that if such change of relgion will be impossible. The values taught in this country differs from other countries. Many other countries are either having the peoples rights surpressed or not experiencing the freedom that we have. Because of that, their values and how they percieve the world will be different from us.

There is so much bigotry and racism that I highly doubt that the religion of islam will ever dominate this country.

Also, to worry about such radicalism that could occur will be exposed and dealt with by the US government and special interest groups.

We are comparing apples to oranges. What the trend is in Russia does not necessarily will occur here. With a very strong Christian faith here in America, I doubt it that our faith can change. I think September 11 changed that for us forever.

    Cyrus,

I am sure that France and England thought the same thing.

I’ve wondered for years how the Left could idolize despots: the likes of Saddam, Hugo, and Mahmoud. Well, the mystery is finally solved as I happened to stumble across this magazine. It may be published by the Sulzberger family (though I’m not sure …

Oh, it can happen here. Not with the help of Christians and Jews, but it can happen here; have no doubt of that.

Last evening I read an article about a Muslim woman who works out in a gym. It seems she was saying her prayers and was interrupted by another gym member. She’s very upset and wants something done about it. This is in Detroit, an area infested with Muslims.

  8. Republicanpundit Says:

A gym is no place to say formal prayers.

There are lots of places in the Middle East to say formal prayers, but she would have to sit behind a curtain.

    Cyrus,

I hope you’re right, but we may have to worry more than you think. A culture without strong identity is easily absorbed into cultures with firm identities.

There are many in this country that wish to and are actively seeking to weaken our identity and culture. Along with the vilification of the founding fathers you’ve got watered down and PC versions of US history routinely taught in our public schools. Patriotism and national pride are routinely labeled as jingoism and xenophobia by the self-appointed intelligentsia and mainstream media if not out and out ridiculed.

The old cliché’ “the children are our future” is true. I know in my family it seems a constant battle against a blitz of media attacks against our way of life and a struggle to raise my children with an accurate knowledge of our history. If you look at all the parents that are disconnected or just don’t care, you have to be concerned about the future of the US of A.

Exactly. A country that stands for nothing will fall for anything.

It’s hard to feel too sorry for Russia though, perhaps if they hadn’t worked so hard to outlaw and persecute Christians in the past, it wouldn’t be so easy for the Muslim religion to gain such a footing.

It kind of reminds me of that old saying about those who believe in nothing will believe in anything.

Tfrench. Agreed, they deserve most everything they get, but it an example of what is happening in the rest of Europe and what the ACLU is trying to do here.
