Senate Race Results
Open Thread
This is an open thread to comment on the various Senate races across the country. As you watch your local news or follow the results in general, please feel free to comment. Those of us at HRP will update results until our eyelids get heavy.
The key races to follow tonight are in PA (Santorum vs Casey), OH (DeWine vs Brown), RI (Chafee vs Whitehouse), VA (Allen vs Webb), TN (Corker vs Ford), MO (Talent vs McCaskill) and MT (Burns vs Tester). We need to win 2 of those seats to maintain control of the Senate. Also of interest are races in MD (Steele vs Cardin) and NJ (Kean vs Menendez) where we may possibly pick up one seat currently held by Democrats.
UPDATE As of 10:25 EST, PA and OH go to the Dems. Networks project RI does as well.

I’ve got the feeling from watching the dreadeded CNN that they feel Allen’s going to win. No commitments, of course, but the comments tilt that way.

Guess who is the worst? FOX. They have the exit polls on every 3 minutes and are ignoring the actual counts as they come in.

newton, don’t be pessimistic. That doesn’t help anyone and especially you. We’re bound to win some good victories tonight.
November 7th, 2006 at 8:43 pm
There is zero hope for the Northeast. It is a foreign country now, as far as I’m concerned.
November 7th, 2006 at 8:44 pm
I understand your feelings, newton, but it’s early and we know how the northeast is. No surprises yet.
November 7th, 2006 at 8:44 pm
Trends in the Northeast have gone from bad to worse over the years. I sure hold no hope for anyone over there.
But CT and MD might surprise us tonight, though.
November 7th, 2006 at 8:46 pm
Did you read what happened to Steele today at his polling station? It should be all over the blogosphere, as an example of what awaits those who “leave the plantation”, so to speak.
I sure identify with what he went through today.

November 7th, 2006 at 9:34 pm
Steel lead 55% 47% with 1% reporting and they are already project him to lose. Awfully quick and suspicious.
The Tennessee race has for well behind and they haven’t called it. Suspicious
November 7th, 2006 at 9:37 pm
IP,
We should say now that Allen will keep it. That’s good news!
Chafee deserved to be thrown out. There was really no choice in RI.
Steele? I still hope he wins. He has been treated like garbage by people who should know better.
November 7th, 2006 at 9:40 pm
Any news on Lieberman?
November 7th, 2006 at 9:41 pm
Am I going crazy here. Steele still leads and they have called it for Cardin???
November 7th, 2006 at 9:41 pm
Hang in there, Netwon. We’re losing some of the races we expcted to lose. It really is posible the House will flip, but only by a seat or two. If that happens, they don’t have a working majority. But the night is still young!
November 7th, 2006 at 9:43 pm
Plus, some of the calls are based on EXIT POLLS, according to Michael Barone, instead of the actual ballot counts!
November 7th, 2006 at 9:44 pm
Where are they calling it like that, RP? Fox? MSNBC?
November 7th, 2006 at 9:45 pm
I think Fox could eat crow over the Steele call. Way too early.
November 7th, 2006 at 9:45 pm

November 7th, 2006 at 9:46 pm
All of them have, but steele still leads!!!

I turned off Fox an hour ago - they are full of crap - I’m going directly to the BOE for the state.
November 7th, 2006 at 9:48 pm
newton, Lieberman is projected to win.
Big Mo, I’m showing question 2 as losing right now. Close but losing 52-48%
November 7th, 2006 at 9:48 pm
Hold it! If that’s the case, something is definitely not adding up here!
November 7th, 2006 at 9:49 pm
Newton - I slightly misread it, but hop on over to Jim Graghty/TKS on NRO. 1st entry.
November 7th, 2006 at 9:49 pm
I hope that Amendment goes down in flames…
November 7th, 2006 at 9:51 pm
If Lieberman wins, what are the Dems going to do? They purged him out of the party!
November 7th, 2006 at 9:51 pm
RP CALLS:
TALENT WIN
CORKER WIN
ALLEN WIN
November 7th, 2006 at 9:53 pm
Hold it, RP! Wait till the precint numbers reach 65% to 75% until you call.
I hope for a Steele win. He’s the one I really want to see win tonight. He deserves it!
November 7th, 2006 at 9:54 pm
The only thing I know for sure is that the media in this country stinks. Rotten. All of it.
November 7th, 2006 at 9:55 pm
I understand, Kathy. That’s why you won’t see me in front of the TV tonight.

Mo Amendment 2 still maintaining its 52.7 NO 47.3 YES edge with 327 of 3734 reporting. MEanwhile, Jim Talent is maintaining 52.7% to McCaskill’s 44% (3.3% to other candidates) which bears out my theory that both of these are tied to each other.
Both are exactly 52.7%. If Talent wins, Amendment 2 fails, and vice versa.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:02 pm
Something seriously wrong is afoot across the land tonight.
I thought we would never decide to capitulate to thugs and terrorists… I thought we would never lose sight of why we fight… But I think blindness may yet envelope the land. And we have little power to do anything about it.

November 7th, 2006 at 10:15 pm

I project that Allen wins.
Also Joe Negron is ahead.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:16 pm
GA 8 and 12 are close but last I looked in our favor. newton, I’m teasing you.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:17 pm
So Kathy, you’re saying that NoVA has not been counted yet? That place usually is counted first! I lived there, you know!
November 7th, 2006 at 10:18 pm
I hope Negron wins.
He doesn’t deserve to pay for Foley’s sins. I hope the people of South FL understand that.
I should look a little further into Negron’s background. I have the feeling that he is Puerto Rican like me.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:21 pm
I think N. VA has been counted. I think Allen’s going to hang on. 92.43% reporting and he’s ahead, 49.85 vs 48.94% I’ll bet networks will declare him the winner shortly.

2006 Senate Races

Pennsylvania voters handed the U.S. Senate’s No. 3 Republican his first political defeat Tuesday, rejecting conservative stalwart Rick Santorum in favor of Democrat Bob Casey, the mild-mannered son of a former two-term governor.

I hope they call Allen the winner over there, COgirl. Fair and square. And no lawyers haunting this man in court.
But again, I don’t discount anything.
I guess Falcon isn’t around. I may yet have to check the inco coming from TX…
November 7th, 2006 at 10:24 pm

November 7th, 2006 at 10:27 pm
The loss of Santorum is a national disgrace.
He, being a decent human being, who even prays for his enemies - who does that in politics nowadays?… All he got was a devouring by the same.
He didn’t lose to better men.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:28 pm
Prince William Co. was a Republican holdout back when I lived in VA. I guess the demographics changed too radically over there.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:30 pm
MO Amendment 2 55% no, 45% yes
November 7th, 2006 at 10:30 pm
Nothing out of AZ or MT yet. I can’t believe that people actually think AZ is in play. That’s nuts.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:31 pm
What are the percentages of precints reporting in MO, Jeanette?
If you want me to, we can move the Amendment discussion to the Ballot Initiatives thread.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:33 pm
AZ has received a HUGE number of people who escaped California. ‘Nuff said.
The same has happened in NH: too many newcomers from MA.

November 7th, 2006 at 10:36 pm
47 to Allen
51 to Webb
with only 16 of 67 reporting
maybe they’ll swing back to Allen? What do you think newton?
November 7th, 2006 at 10:36 pm
Kathy,
PW Co. is not a good harbinger for Allen.
I’d say anything south of the Rappahanock River (Frederiksburg and south) is good for Allen. Anything north is not.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:37 pm
873 precincts of 3734; Talent still maintaining his lead 53.8 to 42.4. Amendment 2 is 54.5 against, 45.5 for.
Like I’ve ben saying, these to are mirrors of each other.
I’m guessing, though, that we haven’t had much yet out of KC or STL, so I expect some movement in these percentages.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:40 pm
KC and StL will not be good at all. Remember, these are the places in which ACORN was concentrating its mischief.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:41 pm
Lieberman wins!!!! Nice acceptance speech.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:41 pm
Negron falling behind in recent poll.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:42 pm
Recent poll? This guy wasn’t even that known around there? Are people over there that stupid not to see the difference?
November 7th, 2006 at 10:43 pm
Mo - the urban areas are all blue
I’ve been looking at the NE area of VA - and I think Allen will win since most blue areas are already in the count.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:44 pm
This seems to be the active thread so I’ll post it here too. Weldon and Sherwood in PA both lost. Dems need 6 more seats to win House.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:45 pm
Ned Lamont now wishes he had never, ever won that primary!
November 7th, 2006 at 10:45 pm

November 7th, 2006 at 10:46 pm
I think Hayes will hold but there’s still more numbers out there
November 7th, 2006 at 10:47 pm
This is not good for Allen. They went for the jugular and the trash. And I guess people took it all in - hook, line and sinker.
But what about absentee ballots? Any news on them?
November 7th, 2006 at 10:50 pm
Hey, now, DO NOT get pessimistic about my state! Talent has some strength in urban areas, as he has made real freinds among blacks and they ain’t none too happy with McCaskill. He is especially strong in St. Louis county, as that was where his House district was.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:53 pm
I believe you Big Mo! I’m still praying fervently for Talent!
November 7th, 2006 at 10:54 pm
AZ 8 and NC 11 have flipped to the dems. Dems need 5 more seats.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:56 pm
Absentees generally go to republicans.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:56 pm
Allen up by 13K w/ 95.6% of the vote in. How do you spell recount? Bring in the lawyers.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:59 pm
Three of the largest military population comes from, or lives in Va, TN and Missouri, so any close race will be determined by the absentees.
Of course the dim lawyers will try to get them thrown out.
November 7th, 2006 at 10:59 pm
Mahoney beat Negron according to DCCC site. Dems need 2 more to take the House.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:00 pm
It’s going to get very painful in VA! I am not looking forward to it at all!
Hey America: do you know what the Dems in the House want? One word: IMPEACHMENT.
Do you want it, too?
Get ready to get used - and abused. Tough luck to you. Consider yourselves warned.

If we lose, we lose. But I refuse to behave like a losing democrat. I know we are right on the issues and I will hold my head high and proudly proclaim for all to hear I am a Republican. November 7th, 2006 at 11:13 pm
We won’t know for weeks who controls the Senate
this VA race will go to court.
Richmond city hasn’t submitted results and they will throw Webb over the top.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:15 pm
That’s not official though because not all seats have been counted and we can take a couple from them too. Don’t lose hope. Speaking of the House. VA and TN are turning my hair more gray.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:16 pm
House has flipped. Unless those Georgia seats go GOP, we have a Dem House. They’re at +16 right now. Sorry, all.

Washington Post WITHDRAWS call of MD race for Cardin!!
November 7th, 2006 at 11:17 pm
This whole business of throwing an election to court…
Gee, thanks, Al Gore! Look at the nest of serpents you have brought into our midst!
Thanks a lot… Not!
November 7th, 2006 at 11:18 pm
I had heard earlier that Steele wouldn’t concede.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:18 pm
I tell you, guys. America better get ready! They have lost memory. They will gain it back very soon!
And their pocketbooks will suffer. Just watch.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:19 pm
That’s great news, MFG. I also noticed that Ehrlich’s way ahead and they’ve called for O’Malley. Something’s fishy.

Terrorists are rejoicing.

COgirl and newton, I noticed the Maryland numbers, too. What gives?
November 7th, 2006 at 11:22 pm
I agree, Kathy.

November 7th, 2006 at 11:23 pm
I have no idea, Falcon. Methinks the networks were a bit premature.

The networks are basing their calls on exit polls again - they never learn -
Look at Allen - he’s ahead albeit by his whiskers, but he was supposed to lose by 10 according to Barone.
They get an F.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:28 pm
We will not lose montana.

Newton, we’re going to be fine
These psychopaths are going to overreach and we’ll smash them in 2008
America will get a good look at these left wing lunatics and recoil in horror
November 7th, 2006 at 11:29 pm
I wouldn’t count MT out at this stage.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:29 pm
From Hewitt: Reporting so far in MO:
36% in
20% St. Louis City reporting
34% Jackson county reporting
0% St. Louis County reporting
As usual the MO race comes down to who wins the suburban St. Louis County. St. Louis is Talent’s home turf though.
Talent’s at 51.1%, McCaskill 45.4 % with 1782 of 3746 precincts. Stem cells still 52.7 NO 47.3 YES, same # precincts.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:30 pm
And for all the hoopla, Kyl is declared the winner in AZ.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:31 pm
Looks like Jimmah’s son loses in NV Senate race.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:33 pm
If the House flip holds as Brit Hume is reporting, the Dems are going to have to show us a plan or we can kick them out as fast as the people put them in.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:33 pm
I can’t believe this. There will actually be a Speaker Pelosi. Now I know what the Dems felt like two years ago.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:34 pm
Oops! Should I have put that on the House thread?
November 7th, 2006 at 11:35 pm
This seems to be the most active thread.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:36 pm
You’re right, Jeanette. Problem is…they didn’t even show us a plan to win this election. But, they still WON.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:37 pm
It’s okay Falcon - I been posting House stuff down here because I have too many open links already and cant find what I’m looking for if I open another HRP.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:38 pm
They ran a smarter campaign than we did. Also, don’t forget the six year itch factor. So far it’s not the tsunami they predicted and if we hold it’s not a big majority. They won’t be able to do anything without +20 seats IMHO. Overall +20 seats.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:39 pm
They didn’t beat us - they won by default.
Dennis Hastert, Harriet Miers, Dubai Ports, immigration, and top it off with relentless press.
The media won the election.
They will be bolder next time since the electorate rewarded them.
Lie to us some more MSM.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:41 pm
Thanks, Kathy
BTW, here’s what Hugh Hewitt is saying about the Maryland numbers:
November 7th, 2006 at 11:41 pm
Falcon,
They will be sorry, so sorry they did it.
Mark my words.
Guys, consider this a vacation. Nothing to worry about when it comes to having powerful committee chairmanships, or even the sight of having to be the voice and face of the party in power. It’ll be a relief that they don’t have to worry about having their necks exposed to the swords every single time!
I think Republicans should take a good, long, nice vacation and play the fiddle while the Dems destroy the House.
It will be fun to watch!
November 7th, 2006 at 11:43 pm
No press to hold them accountable.
Iraq will be Bush’s fault and they will make sure we lose so they can take the presidency in 08
Thanks Polipundit. You helped.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:44 pm
That’s right. Thanks to you, Poli! Not!
November 7th, 2006 at 11:44 pm
I hear you newton. I just worry about one thing: the House Dems hold the purse strings to funding the war now. That is not a good thing.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:45 pm
I’m going to check back on the trolls.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:45 pm
When the unemployment rises to 9.8% we’ll hear how great it is.
When there is inflation and the dow collapses we’ll hear that the rich are getting theirs.
Higher taxes - hope you hadn’t bought tickets on that new vacation…
Yep Nancy gets her drapes.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:46 pm
If they do to our soldiers what they did back in the Vietnam era… they will be sorry.
They never respected the military to begin with. They will rather slash it in half, “for the sake of peace”…
For surrender, I say.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:47 pm

Well I hope those turncoats who cursed Bush and called him arbusto are happy -
Now we have the fox in charge of the henhouse and immigration will be ten times less likely to be solved.
Good job.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:49 pm
My same thought Kathy, all these a******s at Polipundit whining about the RINOs like DeWine, Chafee, etc
Now the RINOs are gone - replaced by communists
Hope they’re happy now
November 7th, 2006 at 11:49 pm
I’m going to tell you folks one damn thing. I will never give anyone the satisfaction of seeing disappointment or anger on my part.
I’ve had the taste of victory for 12 years and I lived with the taste of defeat for 47 years before that. I’m still here, the sun will still rise tomorrow and now the democrats are going to have to produce.
That’s my speech for the night. I’m too proud to have anyone think I am humiliated. I’m not. We could have run a better race than we did but we didn’t and we suffer the consequences. We look to 2008 beginning tomorrow.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:49 pm
G F Allen Republican 1,114,969 49.47%
J H Webb Jr Democratic 1,111,806 49.33%

November 7th, 2006 at 11:51 pm
We WILL get a disastrous immigration bill now
November 7th, 2006 at 11:51 pm
Whatever the end result, the people have spoken. That’s what a democracy is all about. Will we have PDS like the Dems had BDS? I doubt it. We’ll just register more dead people in 2008.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:53 pm
You’re right, COgirl, and like it or not we have to submit to the will of the majority. Today that will was to put the democrats in charge of the House. The Senate is still out.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:54 pm
I just don’t get this. Why hasn’t anyone declared Corker the winner yet?

Harold Ford Democrat 764,685 (48%)

November 7th, 2006 at 11:55 pm
Because he’s the Republican candidate? They claim it’s because they can’t trust the exit polls there and want to be safe rather than sorry.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:55 pm
I’m not going to get bitter against anybody.
But I will not join the crowd that’s going to jump into the abyss. I refuse to do so. I don’t care if it’s popular or it’s the “majority”.
I’m taking my stand, no matter what anyone may say.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:56 pm
Good news! Fox has pulled it’s call on MD for Cardin. How stupid do these guys have to be? Don’t they ever learn?
November 7th, 2006 at 11:56 pm
Well I’m angry Jeanette and it has nothing to do with humiliation.
It has to do with people we voted in power who took the wrong stand.
Who won tonight? The conservative-lites. Schuler instead of Taylor - corruption. But will he vote like he says? I doubt it. And Casey if he votes for prolife judges he’ll break his deal with Schumer. Webb pro military? Oh puhlease - he defended Kerry.
We were out pressed pure and simple and we have mild mannered leadership - semisomnambulistic leadership like ‘don’t search my office’ Hastert - and Reynolds was in charge of keeping the House - the fool didn’t even keep his own seat.
Complacency killed us.
DeWine and McCain’s Gang 0f 14 killed us.
Moderates who betrayed conservatives are GONE and why - because the dems ran conservatives.
Our house leadership needs to be replaced and yesterday is too late.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:57 pm
Steele deserves to win!
It will be a major disgrace if he loses because the population of MD thinks he’s “not black enough” just because he’s a Republican.
His loss will speak very ill of MD, if that’s the case.
November 7th, 2006 at 11:57 pm
I’m saying this about Steele because Political Correctness has indeed infested every single aspect of our lives.
Stereotypes of race and gender seem to dominate the day. And even people who happen to be of a minority - like myself - have to be extremely careful not to speak their minds because others will think that you’re not “black enough” or “Hispanic enough”.
I’m Hispanic, and support immigration reform. Does that make me “less” Hispanic or a “non-Hispanic”… or worse - “white”?
There are seriously wrong things with that kind of thinking. And the media has not helped matters at all.
And don’t even mention what the P.C. police does to Christians… and Jews…. Let’s not even start!
November 7th, 2006 at 11:58 pm
Falcon, I don’t see that on the Fox website. You got a link?

This is BIG for MCcain
November 8th, 2006 at 12:00 am
This is bad, COgirl.
They were able to pin the “racist” tail on Allen, and even accuse him falsely.
I still hope he wins.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:02 am
Webb ahead with 99 percent of the vote in
If Talent loses we lose the Senate too
November 8th, 2006 at 12:03 am
I’m a numbers nerd. I just did a calculation on the TN race. In order for Ford to win, he has to take 76.5% of the votes from the remaining 12% of the precincts. Corker has won. Why won’t they declare it?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:03 am
This is a disaster, guys.
Where are the absentee votes?!? Where are they in the count? Any hint as to where they are?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:04 am
Talent’s at 51.1%, McCaskill 45.4 % with 2178 of 3746 precincts. Stem cells still 52.4 NO 47.6 YES, same # precincts.
Curiously, more people voted on the huge tobacco tax increase, which is being defeated rather handily.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:05 am
No, MFG. Allen’s ahead by about 2K votes, 99.1%.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:05 am
Where are the military votes?!? Where are those votes?
Casey called Kerry a “patriot”. What kind of idiot calls that traitor a “patriot”?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:06 am
Sorry COgirl. I stepped away from the computer to watch the FoxNews broadcast. I didn’t see them showing Cardin as the projected winner anymore.
Hugh also said that both FoxNews and Wapo have removed the Cardin projection.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:07 am
The VA race will end up in defeat or in court. I can sense it.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:09 am
COgirl- here’s the WaPo link
November 8th, 2006 at 12:09 am
Kristol is saying when St Louis comes in, McCaskill will win, Webb is up by 2500 votes in VA
I think the Senate is gone
JD Hayworth now defeated
The polls were basically right, tonight has been a total catastrophe
November 8th, 2006 at 12:10 am
If webb wins, it will not wind up in court.
If allen wins there will be a lawsuit challenging every single race.
Have the absentee ballots been counted yet in VA?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:11 am
You got that right, newton. No matter who wins in VA, the loser (because of the margin of victory) will be allowed to call for an automatic recount.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:11 am
Hmmm– Talent’s fluctuating between 50.5 and 52%, but McCaskill’s been stuck in the mid-40s all night. So why the flip won’t anyone call Missouri for Talent?
But I should say that in the last two statewide elections for Talent, the election has been very, very close. He barely lost governor and barely won senator.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:13 am
Because the dems are still looking for votes in St. Louis.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:16 am
RP - if Web wins by less than 3,000 votes Allen should call for a recount.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:19 am
That’s right, Kathy. The Dems still haven’t figured out how many votes they need to manufacture to win in MO.
There was ALOT of screwy stuff (registered dead and imaginary folks) going on in St. Louie prior to the election. I hope the GOP won’t take a stolen Dem victory lying down.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:20 am
Where do you see Webb up? Here’s from the VA website: G F Allen Republican 1,141,753 49.44%
J H Webb Jr Democratic 1,139,885 49.36%
Last time I checked 141 > 139
November 8th, 2006 at 12:21 am
My nerdy TN calculation. With 90% of the votes now counted, Ford has to take 81.8% of the remaining votes to win.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:22 am
All votes in in VA
Allen has lost by 2200 votes
Goes into the recount behind
Great campaign, George, thanks
St Louis, Kansas City have not reported. Thinking is when this vote comes in, Talent loses
We’ll see…
November 8th, 2006 at 12:22 am
Thanks, Falcon.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:23 am
I love your calculations COgirl! They’re making me feel a bit better about this night.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:23 am
Where do you see all votes in Va - not on the official website…
November 8th, 2006 at 12:25 am
Although I agree with Jeanette and newton that I won’t allow losing the House to send me into despair, we absolutely MUST hold the Senate. It’s all about the JUDGES!
November 8th, 2006 at 12:26 am
MFG, the Fox #’s on VA don’t make sense. I’m looking at the official website w/ 99.18% of the votes and Allen has more votes than what Fox is showing.
VA official site
November 8th, 2006 at 12:26 am
MFG - link on Va? the BOE shows 99% not one hundred and Allen is ahead.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:27 am
Something bad wrong with Fox news tonight.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:28 am
I agree, Kathy.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:28 am
Fox reports 100 percent in
Are they wrong?
AP calls Corker winner in Tenn
November 8th, 2006 at 12:31 am
Oh no! I just checked the AZ Sec of State site and JD Hayworth IS losing. He’s down 12,000 votes with 98% reporting.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:31 am
I’d like to know where Fox got its numbers - and not just in VA - how do they call Steele/s race?
something smells very fishy
November 8th, 2006 at 12:32 am
Hayworth is history.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:32 am
Check out my link in #219. Fox shows less votes for Allen at 100% than the official state site shows at 99.18%. Fox cannot be right.
Corker’s won in TN. Fox just won’t declare it. Last calculation I did showed that Ford has to get 82% of the remaining votes to win. Can’t happen.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:33 am
Hastert - can you spell IMMIGRATION?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:33 am

Kathy and COgirl, I’m with you. FoxNews really screwed up their election coverage.
I tried to watch CNN amd MSNBC but Matthews, Carville, and “The Forehead” Begala got on my last nerve.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:37 am
Kathy, I would, but I can’t figure out where to send the damn e-mail. They’re nuts.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:39 am
They are nuts - the latest numbers still have Allen up by 1700+ with 99.26%
November 8th, 2006 at 12:40 am
Already talking about defunding Iraq
I pray that this doesn’t happen
November 8th, 2006 at 12:41 am
MFG - but why wouldn’t the official site agree with FOX
And Falcon - CNN - Honey, you were desperate!
November 8th, 2006 at 12:42 am
I am about to go to bed, but before I do, let me say some things that need to be said:
1. First, I want to thank all the HRP hosts and commenters for the hard work we did during this election.
2. Those same Republilicans who wanted border security and stayed home because of that have handed punished the very people who killed the Senate bill which was attrocious and almost gaurenteed you will get the very bill you did not want. Congratulations, you succeded. Enjoy your anger at the Republicans while the democrats hold hearings 24 hours a day.
3. Remember the last time the dims were control of a house of congress, they stayed in control 11 months because they angered the public so bad that even the Majority Leader was booted. The same will happen in 2008. Nancy P and her hoarde of liberals will wear very thin on the American Public.
4. We have to work twice as hard not to gain back what we lost in 2008 and I believe we will.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:42 am
And I just updated my calculation and Ford has to take 94.2% of the remaining 6% of the votes to win.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:42 am
Well I’m not going to turn on the tv for the next few days and I’ve got to tend to my day job - and pay off my bills before the dems find out I have any money and use it to import some illegal aliens that Polipundit staged a revolt to keep out and basically enabled the dems to roll out the red carpet so now we are all screwed.
Americans are just as stupid as the dems counted on them to be.
Either that or ACORN succeeded far surpassing.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:43 am
Kathy, now the official VA site has Webb ahead.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:43 am
Kathy -
No, I just wanted to see if their coverage was any better (or worse) than FNC. With Carville and Begala on hand, it’s definitely worse.
As for Matthews and Keith Overbite, their smugness just got on my nerves.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:45 am
Fox has at long last declared Corker the winner.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:45 am
MFG - thanks for the update because I stopped watching FOX (and all TV reports) already. Looks like there will definitely be a recount no matter what happens.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:46 am
Fox needs better data entry clerks.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:46 am
I believe that MFG - the person at FOX needs to be fired and I never want to see Bill Kristol ever again.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:47 am
Jean Schmidt hung on in Ohio
A little good news!
November 8th, 2006 at 12:48 am
Kathy - I know how you feel. I just hope the Poli-conservatives are happy now. The Republicans weren’t conservative enough so now we have liberal Dems in charge. Oh yeah, that makes sense.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:48 am
Any news on MO?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:49 am
Where’s Big Mo and IP?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:50 am
I know, Falcon! I just hope that enough people can cream Poli into oblivion.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:52 am
Hi, folks. I haven’t deserted; I was just catching up on the comments and getting the new theme installed. We had a glitch in the theme and I had to call Kim to get it fixed.
I, too, am very disappointed with Fox. I could tell before 7 tonight we had lost just by the way they were talking. Then they project Dem winners with 1% of the vote counted and hold off on Rep winners with 99% of the vote counted. Have they gone over to the dark side?
And I’m ticked off at Mr. Polipundit in a major way as I think he helped fuel this loss. I hope that “legal” immigrant enjoys his Bmer while he can because his taxes are sure to go up.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:53 am
News from TX:
Hutchinson returns to the U.S. Senate - a safe seat, if there ever was one.
Governor: It’s Perry - with a plurality, not a majority. Chris Bell (D) came second.
What really screwed the results were two people: “Kinky” and Keeton Strayhorn. I just wish she had never left the Party to run on her own.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:53 am
Well I thank you guys for facing the awful truth with me. I think I’ll go throw my computer into the swimming pool.
newton - I’m gonna get busy on baby booties tomorrow. So glad for Little Fig - the thought of her is my happy thought tonight.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:54 am
Does anyone have a count on the House and/or Senate right now?
November 8th, 2006 at 12:55 am
And, really, who could take “Kinky” seriously anyway? I did not, and I still don’t. “Why the Hell not?” Indeed.

Newton, what I keep hearing from several sources is that Talent’s lead will disappear when KC and StL come in
Hope they’re wrong
November 8th, 2006 at 12:56 am
Kathy,
You have poured your heart and soul into this campaign, as have the rest of you. The ones who seem to be taking it the hardest are the ones who know the dems the best—the ones who used to be dems. Somehow I’m taking it in stride right now. I’m just filing it in the back of my mind in the order of priority with my other concerns.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:57 am
COgirl,
If the big cities haven’t yet reported this may not be good news for Talent.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:57 am
I tell you: the child tax credit and marriage penalty relief will be gone, gone, gone. Why? Because a couple like the sig.other and I, who are quite stable, and have a child on the way, are considered “rich”, under the new Politically Correct definition of it.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:58 am
Fox web site shows 49 Senate seats for us with 3 still too close to call. Take it for what it’s worth.
November 8th, 2006 at 12:58 am
Gets better in TX: Keeton Strayhorn won more votes than “Kinky” - 18% vs 12%. Twelve.
Another reason to think that “Kinky” was not taken seriously.
Here it is. http://207.200.23.22/06novgen.htm
November 8th, 2006 at 12:59 am
Republican incumbent Robin Hayes appears to have won re-election to Congress from North Carolina’s 8th District – but only by a paper-thin margin.
A recount looms, and it appears as if provisional ballots also could figure in the results.
Hayes’ margin of victory was 468 votes out of more than 120,000 cast.
From the Charlotte paper…
November 8th, 2006 at 12:59 am
I don’t know what the House count is, quite frankly, but I think we’re down 3 for sure in the Senate. Waiting on VA, MO and MT. Just one of those will keep us at 50-50 and Cheney breaks the tie.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:00 am
If Lieberman caucuses with the dems and why should he?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:00 am
I just looked at the official VA site and with 99+% of the vote counted it’s showing Webb ahead by about 2000 votes.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:00 am
WaPo is back w/ Cardin as the winner. He’s got an 8 point lead over Steele.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:01 am
Lieberman said as late as Monday he will caucus with the dems. He’s loyal to a fault.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:02 am
I’m going to call it a night, er uh week…
I’ll see you guys in a few days.
Goodnight.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:03 am
Then if that’s true I guess the pollsters were right this time.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:03 am
Night, Kathy.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:04 am

November 8th, 2006 at 1:04 am
Good question, Kathy.
After all that Lieberman had to endure, including anti-Semitic insults, how could he want to relate to those people anymore?
I fear that these elections will embolden the radical Leftists into thinking they can intimidate all of us. They can get nasty, and they will. They have been waiting for this time to really, really get nasty.
Frankly, I fear the demons they will begin to unleash upon this land. Nothing would satisfy them than to see us disappear, or go into total obscurity.
There’s one thing they don’t count on: we already are free, in spirit. They can never enslave our spirits or our minds. And, if they really think they can threaten our freedoms and our lives, we always can learn how to shoot.

newton - it wouldn’t matter if you and your sig.other were stable or not. Under Democrat math if you have a job you’re RICH and should be taxed.
As for the TX GOv. race, I refused to vote for Strayhorn because her campaign to go from GOP to Indy kept Gov. Perry from getting a majority. And Kinky was always a JOKE. How could anyone vote for someone named “Kinky”
November 8th, 2006 at 1:08 am
Night, Kathy. Try to sleep well though I know it will be hard.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:09 am
Burns down by 8
Say goodbye to this one too…
November 8th, 2006 at 1:09 am
The Republican is ahead in GA 8 with 94% counted. Burns looks to be in trouble. Fox still shows Talent ahead. MFG, where did you get the MO numbers?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:10 am
MFG - do you have a link for your numbers on MO?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:11 am
Fox web site just updated MO to reflect what MFG said.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:11 am
You better provide a source, MFG, or I will run you out of town!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:12 am
Oh, no!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:13 am
Go to Foxnews.com and put in MO then the race for Senate and track it. They agree with what MFG said earlier.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:13 am
I can see that as well about MO. I think we just have to understand where the outstanding votes are. Wish Big Mo was around.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:15 am
This is horrible! Did the Christians in MO just stay home? Were they guiltied into doing so by saying that, if you vote against that Amendment, you will just wish for people to die?
What twisted thinking is that?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:15 am
MFG’s right. McCaskill’s ahead by about 20,000 votes acoording to the MO Sec of State site.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:16 am
According to TTLB we have 52 seats in the Senate with 2 outstanding still. MO and MT. If we lose them it will be 50-50 for all intents and purposes so worst case is we hold the Senate with Cheney’s vote.

I’m going to have to tell the sig.other that he and I might want to consider a new role for us: ex-patriates.

Fox hinting they may call MO soon
November 8th, 2006 at 1:20 am
Something stinks in KSCity. Something reeks me of rigging.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:21 am
Everyone check your email for a message from Kathy. Don’t discuss it here.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:21 am
My comments are being blocked, I’ve been trying to respond to you guys!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:22 am
I don’t think there’s a chance of a split Senate. Not with this.
I want ACORN investigated federally. They pulled a huge trick over there.
I don’t think the people of MO would be so blind to do this. Something stinks over there.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:23 am
Already did, Jeanette and sent a reply.
This has been a REALLY bad night.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:25 am
We need to let the dust settle and take everything from there, but as far as I’m concerned everything is the same if you know what I’m saying.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:27 am
Absolutely, Jeanette and I agree
November 8th, 2006 at 1:30 am
If the President doesn’t show fangs this time around…
I hope he does. He has no friends over there now. He knows it.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:32 am
My calculations indicate that we’ve lost 3, putting us at 52, with VA, MO and MT to be decided.
For what it’s worth, McCaskill’s lead fell by nearly 4000 votes to about 11,800 with 81.8% reporting.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:33 am
You know what REALLY sucks? These are the most current numbers for MO:
Talent, Jim REP 815,369 48.0%
McCaskill, Claire DEM 827,177 48.7%
Gilmour, Frank LIB 40,647 2.4%
Lewis, Lydia PRG 15,266 .9%
If you add the Libertarian and Progressive votes to the GOP and Dem candidates , respectively, Talent would be ahead by over 13,000 VOTES.
When are people going to learn NOT to vote for third-party candidates!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:34 am
I might want to give the President a suggestion regarding canine companions over there. Who said that “If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog”?
A good herd of pitbulls might be a good start.

COgirl is going hiking tomorrow and Kathy is taking some much-needed time off. I’m going to need all the help I can get from the rest of you if possible.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:34 am
That comment went through, great!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:36 am
Totally off topic:
Kirsten Powers on Fox is really cute, I think
A cute commie babe
Don’t tell Mrs MFG I think that!!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:38 am
Wlcome back, MFG
. Trust me, you are definitely not spam.
Jeanette, I’ll do what I can to help.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:39 am
MFG - I’ve said that very same thing. But my comment was more, “Wow!! She’s too cute to be a lib Democrat.”
November 8th, 2006 at 1:40 am
Forget it, guys! If she doesn’t agree with you, don’t even consider her!
There are much, much better ones out there!
November 8th, 2006 at 1:43 am
I wonder how Carville and Matalin manage to make a go of their marriage?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:43 am
From #236 -
Goodnight, RP and thanks for all that you add to this site.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:43 am
My ear has been hurting… Fortunately, I have a prescription that was given to me today.
I’m feeling tired. I feel so defeated. And I fear for the future. Terrorists have been emboldened by this. They now know they can act as foxes ready to raid the henhouse.
And they will.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:47 am
It’s definitely not be a good night for us, newton. Although I agree that things seems a little dirty in MO. Well worth and investigation.
Goodnight all. I have to be up in 5 hours.
BTW, newton, I hope you feel better.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:47 am
My eyelids are closing guys. But I want to follow the MO race a bit longer.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:49 am
I’m not going to try to cheerlead anymore. I’m not good at it and no one listens anyway. Let’s let this get behind us for a few days and we won’t feel so defeated. Let the dems have their two years and show the public what true, blind hatred is. It won’t take long. In the meantime, we fuss as much as possible to make sure our troops are taken care of and have not died in vain. That’s what this blog is about for the next two years. That and seeing how we can purge the leadership of the party and get some fresh conservative voices in power.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:50 am
Whomever is still on please let me know when you leave. I’ll watch the house till then.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:50 am
COgirl -
Talent is down by more than 25,000 votes with 563 precincts waiting to report.
Not good.

Jeanette #314 -
Great advice. And I LOVE the new theme you chose for the website. Thanks for all that you do.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:54 am
BTW, Minnesota has the distinction of sending the first Muslim to Congress. I’m not sure I’d want that distinction as it is a ploy to destroy us from within.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:56 am
The themes were all designed at the same time when we set up the blog. All I did was switch it over to the one we’ll use for the next two years.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:56 am
Well, VA #s have been updated and Allen’s behind by 4700 now. I’m too tired to stay up and follow MO.
Ugly night, but we should be proud of the democracy in which we live. This is what makes America great.
Goodbye and good night.
November 8th, 2006 at 1:57 am
Goodbye? You’ll be back, right?
November 8th, 2006 at 1:59 am
Goodnight, COgirl. Never goodbye.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:02 am
It’s possible we lose the Senate by 1. Let’s swallow all the bitter medicine at once so we can get it over with.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:03 am
Going to bed
Goodnight
We’ll be fine!! We really will be. Remember, always, what Napoleon Hill used to say: “Within every adversity lies the seeds of an equivalent or greater benefit.”
I have found this to be true in my own life
The good that can come of this:
1. New leadership for the Republican party in Congress which we desperately need.
2. The public will see the TRUE face of the Democratic Party. They will NOT be happy.
3. We’ll get serious about controlling spending.
4. We can run for the White House in 2008 against the “Nancy Pelosi House” as a group of out of touch liberals
5. President Bush will respect the base more on key issues(!!)
And I’m sure many more positive things can come from this
Rest, recover, cry a bit if you must, but remember we have lost a battle, not the war
November 8th, 2006 at 2:06 am
Talent just conceded
****!
Sorry for the obscenity…
November 8th, 2006 at 2:11 am
Goodnight, MFG, and thanks for the reminder.
Thanks to everyone who stayed up and watched the election returns with us. It’s a disappointment to be sure, but we’re Americans who love our country and will do what we can to make sure our government is run properly. We will be here to point out what is wrong as well as what is right.
As MFG said, it will give the country a chance to really see how well the dems can govern. I just hope they leave the economy alone or don’t have a veto-proof majority and the president actually keeps his veto pen in his breast pocket at all times.
We’ll come to grips with this and we’ll be tougher for the experience. Some of us need a little time to get over the bitter defeat because we so believe in our cause we were convinced we would prevail tonight. That wasn’t to be and now it’s time for us all to examine where our party goes from here.
Good night and good luck.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:15 am
Another night like this, COgirl, and there will be no more American democracy to celebrate.
Me? I’m learning how to shoot. While I still can.
And mark my words, terrorists: you will never see me in a burka. Ever.
Mark my words, Dems: I will never submit to you. Not as long as I have any strength left in me. You just opened the door wide to every miscreant of the world with a grudge against this nation.
November 8th, 2006 at 2:34 am
One last note: AP is reporting we lost Missouri.
