The New York Slimes now seems desperate to change the story…

From Drudge:

NEW YORK TIMES PLANS EXCLUSIVE STORY ON IRAQ AND RESEARCH OF NUKE BOMB… NEWSROOM SOURCE TELLS DRUDGE: ‘IT WILL LEAD THE PAPER ON FRIDAY… IT SHOULD IGNITE NEWS CYCLES’… DEVELOPING…

Now why would they be running another “exclusive” slamming Bush on the run-up to the invasion of Iraq–a story that’s now four years old? Could it be, oh, I don’t know, the election?

Remember that imes story on “missing tons of munitions” from just before the 2004 election that was somehow supposed to illustrate how stupid Bush is?

Well, there’s only ONE reason for this story, now: Kerry caused far more damage than the Dems and leftmedia want to admit. (That’s my theory, and I’m sticking to it.) And that’s why they want to change the story from Kerry and the Dems and their continual crappy treatment of our military, and focus on Bush — even if it has to be the old WMD story that most people have already put out of their minds.

Hell-O!, New York Times! We already know the pre-invasion intel wasn’t great. If the lack of WMDs and “Bush lied!!!!!!!!” didn’t hurt Bush in 2004, what the sam hill makes the Slimes think it will hurt Bush and the GOP in 2006?

I just saw this article too, Big Mo, and my thoughts were exactly the same as yours. Great minds and all that. :d

There’s no doubt that kerry threw the left off of their stride, and has caused a shifting of momentum.

There is another reason, perhaps, that the Times wants to run this story — it’s all about “controlling the news cycle”, and with this being the last weekend before election day, this type of story, or non-story, which gains control of the news cycle for the left becomes by default, a win for the left.

The best opportunity our guys have to maintain control of the megaphone for the remainder of the weekend is by continuing to hammer kerry. Hammer him into the ground, and hit him 4 or 5 more times, just for good measure. Heh™

but, as I’m going back and re-reading my comment, and re-reading your post during the time delayed editing, I think we might be saying pretty much the same thing.

    nite y’all.

This is all old history and has been tried before, excpet that this time it highlight Iran and a danger. This could cut both ways. Reminding us that Iran is getting technology makes them more dangerous.

If they are getting close, they will have to be taken out. The country knows President Bush and the Republicans will take the necessary actions and the dimocrats won’t.. Any story reminding Americans they are not safe is a big win for the Republicans. The nyt may be being too cute by half.

NY Times: Saddam 1 year away from Atomic Bomb

Remember those millions of doccuments recovered after the fall of Saddam’s Regime? The ones which among other things clearly showed showed connections of Saddam’s regime to Al Qaeda in the early 90’s,  the continued development of d…

I should have waited to see the story first. Since I can’t do an update at work, a comment will have to do. The Times, despite all of its twisting, has just blown the anti-war argument out of the water! Saddam really WAS WORKING ON THE BOMB!

As one of the stupid people the only thing I got out of the article is Saddam was close to an atomic bomb and the NY Times does not like secret information being outed unless they are the perpetrators of the information. Got to love elites (idiots) in the MSM.

I agree Rightmom! LOL! The release of classified information is the purview of the NYT only. And I personally love the inconsistency of how it could be more dangerous on the internet than in the hands of Saddam Hussein, our sworn enemy.
