Captain Ed’s Take On The Latest Reid Revelations
It’s incumbent upon those of us in the blogosphere to expose Democratic hypocrisy and corruption so that voter’s know who and what they are dealing with. After all, Democrats have pulled every last dirty trick out of their hats in order to persuade voters they should be put in charge. No one has done a better job of exposing Harry Reid for what he is than Ed Morrissey at Captain’s Quarters. Here’s his latest commentary on Dirty Harry, How Dare You Attack Me, And By The Way, Here Are A Couple More Disclosures.
Reid has claimed this is all a Republican plot to affect the election. As I noted yesterday, (More on Dirty Harry), we all know how friendly the AP has been to Republican causes. (NOT!) Here’s what the Captain has to say about the Reid accusations.
Let’s get this straight. Reid’s failure to follow the Senate rules on disclosure in 2001, when he sat on the Ethics Committee, somehow got set up by the Republicans. Reid’s connection to an attorney involved in a bribery case that directly related to zoning decisions in Clark County, where they both owned property, was a Rovian plot set in motion in 1998. And now Reid’s new disclosures of property in an area where he has taken an intense legislative interest somehow relates to Republicans, when no one even mentioned the parcels in question — because Reid failed to disclose them during his entire time as Senate Minority Leader, while he has castigated Republicans for alleged ethical lapses.
The Captain notes Reid’s hypocrisy.
In Reid’s organization, the rules don’t apply, and this rule means a lot less to the taxpayers than Reid’s manipulation of federal land deals. I doubt many will begrudge staff their Christmas party, but for a man who likes to demand strict compliance to regulations from his opponents, he has a strange allergy to adhering to them himself.
Is there any wonder that Democrats have dropped their “culture of corruption” battle cry? We must keep this story on Reid alive and force the MSM to put it on the front page. They would do that if Reid was a Republican. If we lose the Senate, this is the man who would be the Majority Leader. He would set a fine example for the rest of the Senate, wouldn’t he?

The press coverage on this story is unbelievable even with my low expectations of them - I am astonished at how they softpedal and coddle and cover up for this crook.
It’s not about investigative journalism, or truth to power, or breaking up corruption, or looking out for the little guy anymore. The press is the propaganda arm of the DNC.
This man could potentially be the majority leader in the Senate - his ethics should go under a microscope.
Lott was kicked out for a bad choice of words, and this guy rooks, crooks, and influence peddles his way into the RitzCarlton and the press turns an unexcusable blind eye to the whole thing.
It’s impossible to credibly cover corruption stories when the news room is the enabler.

The media isn’t doing much with this because the fact that Reid did what most people in real estate do isn’t much of a story.
