Another Reason to Love President Bush

The president paid a visit to the White House Press Briefing Room Wednesday one last time before renovations begin and was at the top of his game. He smiled, laughed, make jokes, and traded barbs with a press corps that largely despise him. That’s odd considering he’s one of the most likeable people I’ve ever seen. That’s one of the reasons I was so eager to support him (as a Democrat at the time) in 1999.

But certain members of the Pinocchio Press still operate through their prism of Bush hatred. Case in point, I got this story via Rush Limbaugh. Newsweek reporter Howard Fineman had this this to say about President Bush on a recent Hardball with Chris Matthews show:

…George Bush at his press availabilities in the last 36 hours has looked like a defeated man. I have never seen him look like this, in all the time I’ve been covering him since when he started running for governor in Texas ten years ago.

Poor Howard. Such a blind little liberal. I guess he should’ve waited to see yesterday’s press get together before making that statement. Watch this video and tell me if the president looks “like a defeated man” you to. You can also watch the video and read the transcript here.

Oh yeah, that guy looks really dejected. I don’t know how he gets up in the morning. 8-|

Update: Our own kimsch was way ahead of this story before I was.

I think Bush looks more like a man who’s thinking that he doesn’t have to put up with the crap from the media much longer. Wish we didn’t have to put up with Fineman either. But then I never watch him.

I saw the press conference live yesterday and I just thought Bush was one cool dude to do that.

Thanks for the link Falcon. Do you know how hard it was to get that bit of video? I finally figured out how to get it from TiVo to DVD to my laptop to a format that can be read and saved by Media Player. =))
