Civilian Casualties

For those concerned about civilian casualties:

IDF: Hizbullah preventing civilians from leaving villages in southern Lebanon

The IDF has found that Hizbullah is preventing civilians from leaving villages in southern Lebanon. Roadblocks have been set up outside some of the villages to prevent residents from leaving, while in other villages Hizbullah is preventing UN representatives from entering, who are trying to help residents leave. In two villages, exchanges of fire between residents and Hizbullah have broken out. (Hanan Greenberg)

Looks like Hezbullah has decided they need more body bags to get sympathy. But the Israelis are warning civilians to evacuate… so Hezbullah must stop them. Where’s the outrage from Kofi Annan over that? I won’t hold my breath.

So much for the comments made earlier this evening about Israel killing Lebanese Christians. . .

  2. Kathy Says:

Exactly, COgirl, that’s why I posted this.

As an IrishMan I find it disgraceful that the UN should be thought of as “a Joke” by some.Ask the loved ones of the 47 irish soldiers who gave their lives serving the UN in Lebanon in the cause of peace if they think it is a Joke!

The UN lost the trust of the American people a long time ago. It was brought together as a well-intentioned force for good in the world, but it has become a world congress of dictators, malcontents, anti-Semites, and anti-Westerners, who want to appease instead of confront evil – a modern-day amalgamation of the spiritual descendants of Neville Chamberlain.

Yes, the UN is a joke. It is too sad that there are soldiers out there that have to sacrifice their lives serving under their flag. For that, I’m mournful.

(Don’t try to question me, fella, BTW. I have studied the institution for quite a bit. I know that of which I speak.)

    Patrick,
Ask the people of Darfur what they think of the UN. Everytime the UN gets involved the innocent suffer, including those brave Irish soldiers.

I know you are proud of them, rightfully so. They did not die in vain, and nobody is saying that.

It’s the idea that a pacifist organization controlling an army makes no sense. It only guarantees peril for those who serve.
