Happy Father’s Day to all fathers, fathers-to-be, grandfathers, step-fathers, adoptive fathers and father figures to the children in our country.
If you still have your father around, or your father figure, be very thankful. If you don’t then take time to reflect on your father’s memory today.
God bless our fathers.

My family have called me Susan since I was little due to my brown eyes. As a school child and an adult I have been Jeanette. I say this to explain what I am about to post. When the first anniversary of my father’s death arrived I had this posted in the hometown newspaper:
I still love you and think of you, Dad.
I wish my wonderful husband who is a great father and grandfather a Happy Father’s Day.

My dad has been gone twenty years and yet he still informs my actions and thoughts. He called me ‘hard head’ and also ‘Daddy’s Baby’ – both true.
He once said of my cooking “Of course your cookin’ sticks to your ribs, once it gets in there, it can’t find its way back out.” Very funny – guy.
One of the best things about him was his ability to listen. I asked him once why he wasn’t much of a talker (unlike me) and his response: “I have never learned anything listening to myself talk.”
(I learn stuff all the time – mostly that I should shut up.)
It is wonderful indeed to have had a Dad that still guides my thinking, eventhough his voice has been silent for over twenty years.
I love you Dad – and I will see you again.
And now to the wonderful husband who has been the best father anyone can imagine to our girls. They adore him. Happy Father’s Day, Honey and thank you for being the very best.
I’m doubly blest.
And a special word to the fathers of men deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and throughout the world – God bless you – and we share your pride! And to the fathers serving away from their children- thank you for your sacrifice – may we be worthy. God grant you safe return!
